What to Expect
Junior High and High School can be exciting, confusing and everything in-between.
Through fun games, inspiring speakers, honest worship and intentional small group discussions, students are invited to take a step toward owning their faith.
We say "take a step" for a reason. It's because there is no finish line or certificate of completion when it comes to spiritual growth. Instead, spiritual growth is a journey and no two journeys are identical. We all don't need to master the same skill or achieve the same result. Instead, we all have steps we can be taking to owning our faith.
What exactly does it look like for a student to own their faith? We believe there are four habits that lead to, and are a result of spiritual growth.
SPENDING TIME WITH GOD
Spending Time with God is about helping students develop personal spiritual disciplines. It can look like opening the Bible, talking with God through prayer, discovering how they best connect with God through worship, and whatever else helps them connect with God personally. When students spend time with God, their faith grows!
SPENDING TIME WITH OTHERS
This spiritual habit is about helping students grow in godly relationships with others. We do this within our church through small groups and mentoring relationships. But we can also do this by encouraging students to develop healthy relationships with others in their families, schools, and communities. Through godly relationships, their faith can grow!
USING THEIR GIFTS
It’s important for students to discover how God made them and who God made them to be. As they begin to discover how God uniquely created them, we can help them use their unique gifts to love God and serve others. When they use their gifts, their faith grows!
SHARING THEIR STORY
Students need to learn how to have conversations about who God is and what God is doing in their lives. Sharing their stories of faith isn’t just something they should do when speaking into a microphone or sharing a testimony. Faith should become a regular, on-going, go-to topic of conversation for students. When they share their stories, their faith grows!
Sunday Mornings
On Sunday mornings during the 11AM service students will be invited to their own teaching and discussion time after musical worship. In this time students will be led through the entire biblical narrative using One Story Junior High a curriculum designed to help students get a little deeper into God's Story while they continue to discover who they are within it.
